Annual Salary Range: $87,287.20 - $109,145.40 (Level 10)
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the development and management of assigned project work during all phases, from inception through definition of scope, planning, design, procurement and construction to commissioning in accordance with the project scope, schedule, budget and quality assurance requirements. You will be assigned to one or more elements of the project, possibly leading to multiple design and/or construction contracts. You will lead Designers (Consultant or in-house) through the design phase and the preparation of the construction contract. You monitor technical performance of the Designers and ensure all engineering milestones are met; coordinate work by third parties and value engineering activities; obtain all the required sign-off and approvals both internally and from external agencies; provide project management support to the Construction Site Manager during construction, commissioning and handover, including the coordination of all scope and engineering changes; provide the Project Manager with various status reports; and perform related administrative duties as assigned to meet project requirements and commitments. You are responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
You have a comprehensive knowledge of current engineering principles and practices, combined with a strong knowledge of construction techniques and practices including contract administration. You require knowledge of the government regulations, safety regulations and procedures, and the legislation and standards that would be applicable to the project. Your comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and practices is combined with sound judgement; effective organizational, analytical and problem solving skills; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including technical report writing skills. You have the demonstrated ability to manage and work with multi-discipline technical teams, deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships. These skills and knowledge would normally be acquired through a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or the equivalent, combined with extensive experience in engineering or construction management of large multi-discipline projects. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is required. PMP certification is an asset. Requires a valid Province of Ontario non-probationary Class “G” Driver’s license and use of own vehicle for attending site visits, public meetings, etc. Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
This position is designated as safety-sensitive, specified management or designated executive under the TTC’s Fitness for Duty Policy. If you do not currently hold a designated position, you will be required to pass an alcohol and drug test as part of the certification process.
